Actor and producer Nikhil Dwivedi, who is bankrolling films like Kareena Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor’s Veere Di Wedding and Salman Khan’s Dabangg 3, is reportedly making a film, which will be based on actress Mamta Kulkarni’s life. As per the PinkVilla report, a source said, “Nikkhil has acquired the rights to Bilal Siddiqui’s book, The Stardust Affair which is loosely based on the tumultuous and eventful life of Mamta Kulkarni. Her life and journey is something that almost everyone is aware of, right from being a Bollywood star to becoming a ‘godmother’ to allegedly being Dawood Ibrahim’s girlfriend, Mamta Kulkarni has always been in the headlines. The book will serve as the base for Nikhil’s next production and the producer will release an official announcement once all the formalities are complete.”
The source further added, “Work on the film’s script will begin soon after all modalities are locked and once the shoots begin, the team will finalise a leading lady to shoulder the project as well.” A few years back, she was named an accused in the Rs 2,000 crore ephedrine drugs haul case, a special court declared former Bollywood actress Mamta Kulkarni and her husband Vicky Goswami “proclaimed offenders”.
“It is pronounced and declared that the accused Vicky Goswami and Mamta Kulkarni are the proclaimed offenders. The immovable properties belonging to the accused be attached,” ordered the Special NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Court Judge H. M Patwardhan. Accordingly, the Special Court has issued warrants under Section 82 of the Criminal Procedure Code, against the two prime accused – who are believed to be in Kenya’s Mombasa city – in the case which has another eight accused and four absconders.
“I have never engaged in any act contrary to the principles of Indian statutes and am a victim of high-handedness, crude, unprofessional and unethical conspiracy by the officers of the US’s Drug Enforcement Administration and the Thane police,” she said in her plea to the two Union ministers.
