Last week, gangster Vikas Dubey was killed in an encounter by the UP police. According to the police the gangster tried to escape after the car in which he was being ferried overturned on the highway to Kanpur, and was shot dead by officers. Many felt that the encounter was fake and hence filmmaker Rohit Shetty, who has shown fake police encounters in his films, was featured in most memes. It also gave rise to a meme fest on Twitter and we are here to share with you some of the best ones.

The fact that five of Vikas’ aides were killed in separate encounters over the last few days, and that he had apparently surrendered to the police in Ujjain, has had many former top police officers and opposition leaders alleging that the encounter was planned. That’s not all. Videos emerged pointing to loopholes in the police’s version of the story. A video of three cars crossing a toll booth around 4 am shows that Dubey was in a different car, not the one that is seen overturned on the highway. No one knows how and when the car switch happen.
Former DGP, Kerala, NC Asthana took to Twitter and questioned the encounter. He wrote, “Vikas Dubey killed? Really? The same stupid story, which they had for his aide Mishra. Tried to snatch weapon and run away! Only difference in script this time–the car overturned! Who in the world would believe in such an improbable story? That confirms–COVER UP COMPLETE NOW!”
