The cat is finally out of the bag, filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali has revealed that he had indeed offered Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela to the late Sushant Singh Rajput, but talks between the two couldn’t materialise as the actor could not dedicate the time than Bhansali had needed from him for the project. As per a well-placed source of Mumbai Mirror in the police, the filmmaker has denied dropping the actor from any of his films. In a long chain of questioning yesterday by the Mumbai Police, the director admitted to the cops that while he had wanted to rope Sushant in for Ram-Leela, but had to forgo talks due to the latter’s prior commitments with a production house.
No prizes for guessing that the production house being referred to is Yash Raj Films. AS per said source of said news portal, Sushant couldn’t give Bhansali the time he needed not only for Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela, but for two big-budget films because of his contractual obligations with YRF. The source further discloses that SLB had said that SSR was busy focused at the time on his YRF project, Paani, with Director Shekhar Kapur, which, unfortunately, did not see the light of day in the long run.
The source was quoted saying by Mumbai Mirror, “The statement of Bhansali centered around his (Bhansali’s) conversation with Rajput after the film/s fell through because of the earlier contractual conditions.” In his second round of interrogation, Sanjay Leela Bhansali was reportedly questioned for nearly three hours by the cops, which included at least 20 questions on his speculated projects with Sushant Singh Rajput. SO far, 29 people have been questioned in the case, including SSR’s family, rumoured girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty, close friend Mahesh Shetty, casting director and Dil Bechara helmer Mukesh Chhabra, Dil Bechara costar Sanjana Sanghi, YRF casting director Shanoo Sharma, producer and friend Sandip Ssingh and others.
