Noted Bollywood casting Director Mukesh Chhabra, who’s making his directorial debut with Sushant Singh Rajput’s last film, Dil Bechara, has revealed the last ever phone call he had with the late actor on 27th May, which also happened to be the former’s birthday. “He had personally called me up on my birthday, and we spoke. We had a long chat on 27th May. He would always be there, wishing you on your birthdays, so he had called. That’s about it,” recalled Chhabra in an interview to Pinkvilla.
Ruing the fact that he didn’t do more to help his dear friend, Mukhesh Chhabra added, “Because of the lockdown, he and I hadn’t met for a few months. I wish I knew he was in pain.” In the same interview, Mukesh also revealed that though Sushant Singh Rajput had not seen the final edit of Dil Bechara he was aware of the online release prior to his death, and contented with it, too.
“He was aware of the film being released online. He also felt that it’s the best time to release the film digitally because everyone will be able to watch it. Nobody knows when theatres will open, and Sushant also knew that. He was happy with the decision, too. He had seen the film during dubbing. He was very excited about it. He couldn’t see the final cut which is unfortunate. But he was happy and we were discussing how to market the film,” elaborated Mukesh.
Dil Bechara, starring late Sushant Singh Rajput and Sanjana Sanghi, will release directly on a popular OTT platform on 24th July 2020, but its access will be available to everyone, even those who aren’t subscribers of said OTT platform.
