Saroj Khan’s daughter, Sukaina, who’s still coping with the loss of her mother even as the rest of the film industry grieves the demise of Indian cinema’s greatest choreographer ever, has revealed some fascinating piece of Bollywood news about how Salman Khan has been a perpetual pillar of support for Saroji and her family. In an interview to Times of India, Sukaina said, “Salman sir and his family, whether Alvira (his sister) or Alizeh (her niece), have always stood strong with us as a family. They always came forward and are there for us.”
Elaborating on how Salman Khan had once usurped the entire responsibility to take care of her son’s heart ailment, Sukaina added, “My son had this heart issue. He had to go through an urgent heart surgery, Salman sir called up mom one day because he heard about it from Alizeh. He told mom, ‘You tell me I am your son and you don’t tell me what happened’. And after she explained him, he said, ‘Please back down and I will do my best.’ He said, ‘Please don’t worry about anything, just let him go and get it done.’
Salman’s niece, Alizeh, had trained with Saroj Khan in dance for nearly a year, which is how she had hear about the serious issue facing the iconic choreographer’s grandson. Earlier, Sarojji had revealed in an interview to Mid-Day, “I conduct dance classes for all young actresses, including Alizeh. She will become a heroine soon. Alizeh has joined me for a year and has already completed six months,” which was echoed yesterday in an interview by Sukaina to ETImes, where she had said, “She was getting offers to work, but at the same time, because of her age and health she wanted to take a back seat. But still she was doing a couple of jobs. She had actresses learning with her, including Alizeh Agnihotri, Ananya Panday, Sara Ali Khan, Saiee Manjrekar – all these girls were training under her. So she considered herself very lucky and connected to Bollywood equally.”
RIP, Saroj Khan.
