Director Abhishek Sharma had given John Abraham one of his best films and roles two years ago, with Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran, which went a long way in establishing his newfound credentials as an actor of some merit, who’s much more than just an action star, beside giving him a much-needed solo hit after ages — the goodwill no doubt spilling over his other big hits that came later like Satyameva Jayate and Batla House. Well, for all those of y’all who loved Parmanu and are enjoying John’s new phase, we’ve got some exciting Bollywood news for y’all. Abhishek Sharma has revealed in an exclusive interview with BollywoodLife that two will be reuniting for a new film post lockdown, the kind of which we hitherto haven’t seen in Bollywood.
Opening up on the project, Abhishek Sharman said, “Right now, it’s too early, but I’m writing something that me and John were supposed to do after Parmanu. We bot hare very excited about it, but let’s see. I don’t know when this lockdown will be over, and he has to start shooting his other films which are stuck and only after that will he able to schedule our film. It’s very different form Parmanu, it’s a different genre, it’s a very new genre, it’s not comedy or drama, never-seen-before in our cinema (Bollywood). And that why’s John is also very excited about it. But, yeah, it’s too early to talk about it right now. We are still scripting it.”
The Director also spoke about his debut project Tere Bin Laden, completing ten years, how a small film like that grew over time, with the footfalls steadily increasing, leading to theatres requesting for more prints and expanding the number of shows. He also spoke about how he’d have approached the film in today’s changing volatile socio-political scenario given its subject and why it’d have still worked while also heaping praise on how John Abraham goes all out to support new Directors with new ideas and why he’s an underrated actor.
