Well, we loved the chemistry between Ranveer Singh aka Murad and Alia Bhatt aka Safeena in Gully Boy and while we are still gushing over it, the latest report suggests that the duo is reuniting for another project, which is none another than Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi. The Padmaavat actor will have a special cameo, which will play a crucial part in the narrative. As per Bollywood Hungama report, a source close to the film said, “It’s a very powerful cameo. And Ranveer can’t say no to Sanjay Leela Bhansali…Ever! On top of that, the film has Alia Bhatt in the lead. Alia and Ranveer have shared a special rapport from the time they worked together in Gully Boy. So Ranveer has absolutely no reason to decline the offer.”
Earlier the source revealed that it is made for a theatrical experience and will not have an OTT release. “The film is made for the theatre-going audience and Sanjay and team want to release it as soon as possible. They are presently working out a plan for the shoot and are aiming to resume by July end. Being the perfectionist that Sanjay is, he has utilized this lockdown time to prep for the remainder of the shoot,” said the source.
Talking about the film, it is based on Mafia Queens of Mumbai, which is written by journalist Hussain Zaidi. Gangubai Kothewali was the owner of a brothel in Kamathipura (Mumbai area) and a powerful woman in the 60s. Apart from running a brothel, she used to peddle drug and order for murders. The reports also suggest that she owned a swanky black Bently in 1960s. If you’d recall, the director had registered the title Gangubai with the Indian Motion Pictures Producers Association (IMPPA) earlier. So, are you excited for this reunion?
